Verdana
Something Green
· · ·
Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.

Created in 1996, Verdana is a sans-serif font made by Matthew Carter, where its name is based on verdant (meaning something green), and Ana (Howlett's eldest daughter). Verdana features a large x-height Wide proportions & loose letter spacing. Keep strokes legible with wide apertures and counters and a thicker bold weight than other print-ready fonts! This font is specifically designed to be readable at small sizes, so feel free to shrink it down!
Born October 1, 1937, Carter is a well-known British type designer. He is best known for his fonts like Georgia, Tahoma, Bell Centennial, Miller, Galliard, and of course - Verdana. However, he is credited to having created over 35 typefaces. Carter has won many awards for his contributions to the type world, such as an honoris causa, Doctorate of Humane Letters, a 1995 AIGA medal, a TDC medal in 1997, and a SOTA Typography Award in 2005.
